NCA Tutor™ founder Liran Kandin recently joined Claudio Klaus on Studying Law Around the World for Boardroom Leadership, The Power of Trust, and Navigating Cross-Border Careers.

The episode was framed around a point many licensing candidates feel but rarely hear said plainly: a legal career does not have to run on a fixed timetable. Credentials get you into the process. Communication, judgement, and trust are what carry the work after that and almost no one explains that early enough.

What they discussed:

Liran described the way his career took shape as a love story as much as a law story. He intended to become a lawyer. He did not intend to qualify in two places at once, or to build an education practice at the same time. Life moved. The work adapted.

Liran spoke about how NCA Tutor™ was built. For several years the emphasis was on putting strong study material in students’ hands before anything else. The loyalty that later supported the business came from that period of being useful first. Growth followed proof, not the other way around.

Liran also spoke about sitting on the board of a publicly traded company in a non-legal role, including governance, audit and compensation work, and managing outside counsel for the board. The company he joined was in a sector where the rules were changing week to week. The job was to work through problems that had not been packaged in advance.

The value, he said, was sitting on the client side. A law license helps in that room because you already understand how firms work and how decisions get made, but sitting on both sides of the coin, makes you a better lawyer as well.

What he tells students and NCA Candidates:

Keep an eye on what you want but also watch for the opportunity you did not plan. Have a plan and know it will change. What counts as success at one stage is often not what counts later. Fulfilment often matters more than the larger pay check.

His closing advise was to keep an open mind, not let chances pass, and treat the whole thing as a life you are supposed to be able to enjoy. Things will come, in the right time, in the right stage. Try to not rush the process.
